Anti-Ragging and Grievance Redressal Cell
As per the instructions of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India, UGC New Delhi and the Department of Higher Education, Government of Himachal Pradesh, Shimla, the college has an active Anti-Ragging and Grievance Redressal Cell which is duly notified in the college prospectus at the beginning of every academic session. The laws/rules pertaining to ragging and punishment thereof are also published in the college prospectus. The same is also displayed prominently in the college campus for the information of one and all. Due undertaking is obtained from the students as well as their parent/guardian at the time of admission to the effect that they will abstain from ragging in any form and are liable to be punished in case of any breach in this regard. No episode of ragging has been observed or reported in and around the college campus so far.
A Women Cell is functional in the college campus to take care of various issues pertaining to the girl students studying in the college as well as its women staff. The cell undertakes various activities to promote gender equity in the campus and to create an amiable atmosphere for the personal and academic growth of women. Essay Writing, Paper Reading, Slogan Writing, Poster Making and other competitions are organised on regular basis towards this end. The women staff and girl students of the college are given adequate representation on all academic and administrative committees as well as in sports, cultural and other co-curricular activities. A gender champion has also been appointed in the college at the behest of the National Commission for Women, New Delhi to accentuate the activities of the Women Cell.
During the current academic session, a quiz on legal rights of women along with an awareness talk on the same topic was organised in the college on the occasion of International Woman's Day on March 08, 2018. An exclusive talk on General and Reproductive Health was also organised exclusively for the girl students.
Career Counselling Cell
The Career Counseling Cell of the college undertakes a host of activities in the benefit of the students. These include providing detailed information and counseling about the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS), choice of subjects of study therein, filling up of online examination forms along with focussed and periodical information about various avenues of higher education and professional opportunities available to the students in their subjects of study.
During the current academic session, A Presentation on Career Opportunities in Commerce was organised by Shri Puneet Thakur (Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce) on August 04, 2017 in the College Hall. He talked about career options and various other avenues in the field of Commerce. Students may avail of career options like Accountant, Human Resource, Banker, Tax Consultant, BPO/KPO, Auditor, Stock Broker, Teacher, Export-Import Manager, Finance Consultant, Insurance Consultant, CA/CS, Cost and Work Accountant, Event Manager, Travel Manager, Hotel Management, Economist, Administrative jobs after graduating in Commerce.
A presentation-cum-motivational talk on career opportunities in skill based sector like Hotel Management, Airlines Management, Food Management and Fashion Designing was organised for the outgoing students of the college on March 05, 2018. Mr. Rishi Bakshi, Marketing Manager, Global Academy of Professional Studies (GAPS), Chandigarh was present as resource person. More than 300 students participated in the counselling session.
